10328: Bouquet of Roses – by the Numbers

Bouquet of Roses - LEGO 10328

The start of 2024 is bringing a myriad of new sets and opportunities for LEGO enthusiast to build. Originating in 2021, Roses (40460) was one of the first sets released in the LEGO Botanical Collection. Now 3 years later, LEGO has grown a full Bouquet of Roses (10328).

This set brings our first look at a new statistic we’re piloting at Bicks by Numbers, the Brick Value Indicator (BVI). LEGO enthusiasts are usually familiar with price per piece (ppp), a number calculated by dividing the retail price by the number of pieces in a set. BVI takes ppp to the next level, by factoring in the cost of buying each piece directly from LEGO and deriving a value of the set between ppp, retail costs, and LEGO’s ppp cost.

Bouquet of Roses retails for $59.99, has 822 pieces, and 91.58 BVI. Over half of the set (59.8%) is composed of only two colors, red (34.5%) and dark green (25.3%), while 13 other colors make up the remaining 41.2%. With 53 unique elements and 50 unique parts, there is significant variation in the bricks in the set.

The Lingo

With our first post, we wanted to give you the rundown on some of the terms/lingo we’re using on Bricks by Numbers. We’ll keep The Lingo page updated with new terms as we go. For now, here are some of the terms used above:

  • Brick Value Indicator (BVI): A Bricks by Numbers metric that compares the price per piece (ppp) metric against the cost to purchase individual bricks from a set from LEGO’s Pick-A-Brick.
  • Price Per Piece (ppp): Calculated by taking the retail price of a set and dividing it by the total piece count. Also referred to as price per part or price per brick.
  • Price Per Gram (ppg): Calculated by taking the retail price of a set and dividing it by set weight.
  • LEGO Price Per Piece Total (LPPP Total): Calculated by taking the total the cost of acquiring all bricks in a set from LEGO Pick-A-Brick.
  • LEGO Price Per Piece (LPPP): Calculated by taking the LPPP Total and dividing it by the total piece count.

That’s 10328 by the numbers. What do you think?
